It was a wonderful and joyous dedication on the morning of December 17. Several people gathered for the unveiling of Whimsy the owl, the new public art commissioned for Exall Park by long time Bryan Place resident, Belva Becker. We had a large crowd of neighbors and friends, the sculptor, Brad Oldham (pictured with Belva and Whimsy), and Belva’s family members who all enjoyed the big Saturday celebration. Belva wanted to provide something that celebrated the park and to welcome all those who come to enjoy it.

In addition to Whimsy, Brad Oldham has created a number of works including the Traveling Man series along DART’s Green Line near Deep Ellum. We are thrilled to have his latest creation in Exall Park.

Also in attendance were Maria Blanco, the Director of the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, Ms. Angela Hunt, Council Woman for District 14, Tom Zielinski, President of the Friends of Exall Park and other dignitaries.

If you were not able attend the dedication, please take the time to give Belva a call and say “thanks” for the gift.
