Kroger recently acquired a block of land on Hall Street between Ross Avenue and North Central Expressway for the development of a new Kroger grocery store just blocks from Bryan Place. The property will be visible and accessible from the expressway and will address the growing needs of the high‐density apartment and residential construction booming in this area. Kroger explored several locations close to downtown before settling on the property on Hall.

The grocer considered the City Lights project on Live Oak Street and evaluated a vacant block near downtown’s West End entertainment district. Kroger bought the Hall Street property from an apartment developer that recently acquired the land from the Dallas Housing Authority. Another apartment developer, Mill Creek Residential Trust, is working on plans for an additional apartment community at Hall and Roseland Avenue, across the street from Kroger’s new property. We are monitoring the impacts these new developments will have on our neighborhood, as there is sure to be a lot more activity in Bryan Place in the near future.
